Marines will soon be barred from getting large tattoos on their lower arms and legs, according to a new policy announced.

The new policy also covers collections of smaller tattoos but stops short of prohibiting all tattoos, said Lt. Brian Donnelly, a spokesman for Manpower and Marine Reserves. “It only prohibits sleeve tattoos as defined, tattoos on the head or neck, and tattoos that are prejudicial to good order, discipline and morale or that bring discredit on the Marine Corps, as defined in the order.”

“Half-sleeve or quarter-sleeve tattoos that are visible to the eye when wearing standard PT gear [T-shirt and shorts] are likewise prohibited,” the MarAdmin said.

Sleeves are tattoos that cover a person’s arm or leg. Half-sleeves or quarter-sleeves are defined as a large tattoo or a collection of smaller ones “that covers, or almost covers, the entire portion of an arm or leg above or below the elbow or knee.”

Marines who already have sleeves will be grandfathered but must document their art by July 1. Commanders will have to include photographs of the skin art — along with dimensions, body location and the date of documentation — in personnel records.

The new policy is aimed at reining in tattooing and holding onto Corps standards, the top Marine officer said.

While Marines have long been prohibited from having racist or sexist tattoos, or ink on their head or neck, new and existing leathernecks will now be banned from getting large “sleeve” tattoos as of April 1, according to MarAdmin 198/07.

night 1: sorry, i didnt have time to take pictures, and my hands were full of blood. i worked in the asylums with kyle and his brother charlie.
night 2: worked in catacombs with kyle. he left for about an hour to work chains, and i was working one of the catacombs by myself– i was so tired afterwards and didnt get home till like 1:30
night 3: since kyle wasnt working that night, i worked with charlie in house of pain. that night (thursday, night of indians game)we out numbered the customers, and had to throw out some boys who were trying to get into one of the rooms near mine. lol
night 4: i wokred catacombs again with kyle. we didnt have alot of customers, and it was a thursday night again. the lumps on my face are made from sunflower seeds and laytex. they spray painted my face and neck light blue, and put guaze on the bottom of my laytext to make it look like i got my skin ripped off.
night 5: hillbily front porch was the best experience ever! me and hannah rocked it! i didnt have to be scary to scare people, all i did was argue with my earl, and tell people to get off my porch. there was a door at the side that you could bang open; i did it as 4 ppl walked passed– two of them ran, one fell back, and the other crawled away.
night 6: ive been wanting to work slaughter all week, and i finally did. it was sooo much fun. i would hide in this fridge, and BANG out of it, and it scared the shyt out of peole. i made hal the people coming through crawl on the floor. half the time i worked the light switch. you could make it pitched black, strobe, or strobe and black light. it was brilliant!
night 7: last night working! halloween night. i had to work rx half the time (ugh!) i wasnt too happy cos i dont have a good character for a pharmacy. when i switched to stationary, me and hannah were having retarded childish arguements (”mommy likes me better, she gave me pills!” “mommy says im special”). then i would switch to asylum where i hung upside down from the bars, and beat up my friend jarrod. fun fun!
halloween, i reunited with the gay guy from the trilogy video. i have his number and we talk all the time! lol
charlie: hes like my big brother, seriously we are that close. we talk on the phone, and in school all the time.
hannah: one of my bffs from school. shes so fun, and she understands me in weird ways. lol
pokie: dunno why charlie hates her.. mabey cos she lied to him and said she was a dyke, which she isnt…
blue//J: bff for life. if its one person i text alot, its J. hes so funn to talk to and im on the fone with him every morning before school.
halleighe: shes been my bff since 5th grade.
carleen: ive known her since 6th grade lol and she worked twice at bloodview thanks to hannah.
Kyle: yes, everyone, kyle is my new boyfriend. the whole bloodview experience provoked it. we acted as though we were going out in school for a while, and then i heard a rumor about him that i believed (my bad) and we didnt talk to a week. it was so depressing. we were both depressed, and i didnt eat like at all that week. and then i decided to tell him that we needed to talk, and we did and he cleared things up for me, and then asked me out. and yes, that clown upon his arm is a real tattoo. he got it the second night after he asked me out. hes gonna get an eagl all over his back, and hes gonna get the outline for the sleeve hes getting mabey this weekend. i know, hes really young for a tattoo, but i think its awesome that he has it, and there is a reason for the placing, which is very personal. kyle is my hero, i adore him lol, and we love each other lol
